Blue Chip Crypto
An informal term for large, well-established, widely recognized crypto assets.
"Blue chip crypto" is an informal term, borrowed from traditional markets, generally referring to large, well-established, widely recognized crypto assets with a long operating history, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The term reflects general market perception of relative maturity and recognition, not a formal or precisely defined category, and it does not imply an asset is free of risk or volatility.
Examples
- Bitcoin and Ethereum are commonly described informally as blue chip crypto assets.
- Being described as "blue chip" doesn't mean an asset is free of significant volatility or risk.
