Circulating Supply
The number of coins or tokens currently available and able to be traded.
Circulating supply is the number of coins or tokens of a given cryptocurrency that are currently publicly available and able to be traded, excluding any that are locked, reserved, or not yet issued.
Circulating supply is one of the inputs used to calculate market capitalization, alongside the current price per unit.
Examples
- Market cap is generally calculated as price multiplied by circulating supply.
- Circulating supply can differ meaningfully from a project's total or maximum supply.
