Delegate
Someone entrusted with another token holder's voting power in a governance system.
A delegate is a participant entrusted with casting votes on behalf of other token holders who have chosen to delegate their voting power, rather than voting directly on every individual proposal themselves.
Delegation lets less actively engaged token holders still have their voting power represented, generally by someone who follows governance discussions more closely.
Examples
- A token holder might delegate their voting power to a delegate who actively follows governance proposals.
- Delegated voting power can typically be reclaimed or redirected by the original token holder at any time.
