Delegated Proof of Stake
A consensus model where token holders vote to elect a smaller set of validators.
Delegated proof of stake is a variation of proof of stake in which token holders vote to elect a smaller, defined set of validators, who are then responsible for producing and validating blocks on everyone's behalf.
This model can offer faster block production than networks with a very large validator set, though it generally concentrates block-production responsibility among fewer parties.
Examples
- Token holders in a delegated proof of stake network vote for a limited number of validators to represent them.
- Delegated proof of stake trades some decentralization for potentially faster transaction processing.
