Delegation (Staking)

Assigning your stake to a validator without running your own validating infrastructure.

Delegation lets a token holder assign their stake to a chosen validator, contributing to that validator's total stake and earning a share of rewards, without needing to run their own validating infrastructure directly.

The delegator generally retains ownership of their tokens throughout, but shares in the risk of the chosen validator being slashed for misbehavior.

Examples

  • Delegating to a validator lets a token holder earn staking rewards without running their own node.
  • A delegator shares in the risk of their chosen validator being slashed.
