Fractionalized NFT
An NFT split into multiple fungible tokens representing partial ownership.
A fractionalized NFT is locked into a smart contract that issues multiple fungible tokens representing shared, partial ownership of that single underlying NFT, rather than requiring one buyer to purchase the whole item.
This can make ownership of a high-value NFT more accessible to multiple smaller participants, though it introduces additional smart contract and coordination complexity around eventual full-item sales or governance.
Examples
- A high-value NFT might be fractionalized so multiple people can each own a partial share.
- Fractionalization trades whole-item simplicity for broader, shared accessibility.
