Mint Pass
An NFT or token that grants its holder the right to mint a specific future NFT collection, often tradable separately before the actual mint occurs.
A mint pass is an NFT or token that grants its holder the right to mint a specific future NFT collection, generally issued before the actual collection's mint date, and often tradable on secondary markets separately from the collection it grants access to.
This is a related but distinct concept from an allowlist (see Kaavon's "Allowlist" glossary definition): an allowlist spot is generally tied to a specific wallet address and not transferable, while a mint pass is itself a tradable asset that can change hands before being used to mint.
Examples
- A mint pass can be bought and sold on secondary markets before its holder actually uses it to mint the underlying collection.
- Unlike an allowlist spot tied to a specific wallet, a mint pass is itself a transferable asset that can change hands before being redeemed.
