On-Chain
Activity or data that is recorded directly on a blockchain itself.
"On-chain" describes any activity or data that is recorded directly on a blockchain, publicly visible and secured by that network's own consensus rules.
On-chain data can generally be independently verified by anyone running a compatible node, since it's part of the network's shared, public record.
Examples
- A confirmed transaction is recorded on-chain, visible to anyone who looks it up.
- On-chain data is often analyzed to study broader activity trends across a network.
