Quorum
The minimum participation required for a governance vote to be considered valid.
A quorum is the minimum level of voting participation a governance proposal must reach before its outcome is considered valid, regardless of how the votes that were cast are distributed.
A proposal that fails to reach quorum generally does not pass, even if the votes actually cast were overwhelmingly in favor.
Examples
- A governance proposal might require at least 4% of circulating tokens to vote before it can pass.
- Low voter turnout can cause a proposal to fail simply by not reaching quorum.
