Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS)
A provider that handles the technical infrastructure of launching and operating a rollup, letting a team deploy one without building that infrastructure themselves.
Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) is a category of provider that handles the technical infrastructure required to launch and operate a rollup (see Kaavon's "Rollup" glossary definition) — including the sequencer, data availability setup, and bridging infrastructure — letting a team deploy their own app-chain-style rollup without building and maintaining that underlying infrastructure themselves.
RaaS has meaningfully lowered the technical barrier to launching a dedicated rollup, contributing to a significant real increase in the number of app-specific and purpose-built rollups launched across the broader Layer 2 ecosystem.
Examples
- A team using a RaaS provider can launch its own dedicated rollup without building and maintaining the underlying sequencer and data-availability infrastructure itself.
