Seed Phrase
A sequence of words that can recreate a wallet's private keys and access its assets.
A seed phrase is a human-readable backup generated by some wallets. It can be used to recreate the private keys associated with the wallet and therefore may provide control over its assets.
Anyone who obtains a seed phrase may be able to access the wallet. It should never be shared, entered into an unexpected website, or stored in an unprotected digital location.
Examples
- Writing a seed phrase on paper and storing it securely can provide a physical backup.
- A support agent should never need a user's seed phrase to diagnose a wallet problem.
