Session Key
A temporary, limited-permission key a smart account can authorize, letting an application act on a user's behalf without repeated full-wallet approvals.
A session key is a temporary, limited-permission key that a smart account (see Kaavon's "Smart Account" glossary definition) can authorize for a specific application, time window, or set of allowed actions, letting that application act on the user's behalf without requiring a full wallet signature for every individual action.
This is commonly used to improve the user experience of applications requiring many frequent transactions (such as on-chain games), letting a user approve a bounded, time-limited permission once rather than signing every single in-app action separately.
Examples
- An on-chain game might use a session key to let a player perform many in-game actions without a separate wallet signature prompt for each one.
- A session key's permissions are deliberately bounded — limited to specific actions, a specific time window, or both — unlike a full wallet key's unlimited authority.
