Soulbound Token
A non-transferable token permanently tied to a specific wallet.
A soulbound token is a non-transferable token designed to remain permanently tied to the specific wallet it was issued to, unlike an ordinary NFT, which can be freely bought and sold.
This design has been proposed for use cases like credentials, achievements, or reputation, where transferability would undermine the token's intended meaning.
Examples
- A completed course credential might be issued as a soulbound token rather than a tradeable NFT.
- Unlike a typical NFT, a soulbound token generally cannot be sold or transferred to another wallet.
