Staking Pool
A group of token holders combining their stake to meet a minimum requirement or improve reliability.
A staking pool combines many individual token holders' stake together, letting participants who individually hold less than a network's minimum staking requirement still participate, or letting holders share in a more reliable, professionally-operated validator's uptime.
This is distinct from a mining pool, which combines computational power rather than staked capital, though both serve a similar general purpose of letting smaller participants combine resources.
Examples
- A staking pool can let someone participate in staking rewards without meeting a network's full minimum stake requirement alone.
- Staking pools combine staked capital, while mining pools combine computational power.
