Stealth Address
A unique, one-time destination address generated for each incoming payment, so a single published address doesn't reveal all funds received.
A stealth address is a unique, one-time destination address generated automatically for each individual incoming payment, so that a single publicly-shared address doesn't reveal every payment ever received by it.
It's one of the core techniques Monero uses to obscure the recipient of a transaction by default — see Kaavon's "Privacy Coins Explained" guide for how this fits alongside ring signatures and amount-hiding to form Monero's overall privacy model.
Examples
- A recipient can publish a single stealth address publicly, yet every payment sent to it actually lands at a different, unlinkable on-chain destination.
- Stealth addresses prevent an outside observer from simply looking up a published address to see every payment its owner has ever received.
