Token Generation Event
The point at which a project's token is first created and distributed.
A token generation event (TGE) is the point at which a project's token is first created and initially distributed to early participants, investors, the team, and/or the public.
It's a general term covering various specific distribution methods, and is distinct from a project's earlier fundraising rounds, which may have occurred before the token itself existed.
Examples
- A project's TGE is when its token is actually created and first distributed, not necessarily its first fundraise.
- Different projects use different specific distribution methods at their TGE.
