Total Supply
All coins or tokens that currently exist, including those not yet in public circulation.
Total supply counts every coin or token that currently exists for a given cryptocurrency, including any that are locked, reserved, or otherwise not yet in public circulation.
Total supply can be higher than circulating supply, and unlike maximum supply, it can still increase over time if a project continues to issue new units.
Examples
- A project's total supply may be higher than its circulating supply if some tokens are still locked or vesting.
- Total supply is distinct from maximum supply, which is a hard cap that can never be exceeded.
