Unstaking
Withdrawing previously staked crypto, which may involve a waiting period.
Unstaking is the process of withdrawing crypto that was previously committed to staking, making it available to transfer or use again.
Many networks impose an unstaking, or unbonding, period, during which funds remain locked and unavailable, as a security measure for the network.
Examples
- Some networks require waiting several days after requesting to unstake before funds become available.
- Unstaked funds typically stop earning staking rewards immediately once withdrawal is initiated.
