Wallet Address
A shareable identifier that others use to send you cryptocurrency.
A wallet address is a string of letters and numbers, derived from a public key, that identifies where cryptocurrency can be sent. It's generally safe to share publicly, unlike a private key.
A single wallet can often generate many different addresses, and some networks encourage using a new address for each transaction as a privacy practice.
Examples
- Sharing a wallet address lets someone send you cryptocurrency without giving them any control over your funds.
- Sending funds to the wrong address, or the wrong network, is generally an unrecoverable mistake.
