Impermanent Loss Calculator
Estimate impermanent loss using the constant-product formula, given a relative price change.
What this tool does
Estimates impermanent loss using the standard two-asset constant-product formula, given the relative price change you enter.
Assumptions
Results use only the values you enter. They are estimates for education and planning, not investment advice or live market data.
How it's calculated
- k = 1 + price-ratio change ÷ 100
- Impermanent loss (%) = (2 × √k ÷ (1 + k) − 1) × 100
Worked example
- One asset's price doubles relative to the other (+100%)
Result: Impermanent loss -5.72%
Computed with this calculator's own formula.
How to read the result
Impermanent loss compares providing liquidity with simply holding the two assets: it's how much less your pool position is worth than holding. It depends only on how far the price ratio moved, not on its direction, and it shrinks back if prices return to where they started.
Limitations
- It applies to a standard 50/50 constant-product pool; weighted and concentrated-liquidity pools behave differently (concentrated positions can lose much more).
- Trading fees earned are not included, and they may partly or fully offset the loss.
