Loan-to-Value (LTV) Calculator
Calculate loan-to-value (LTV) from a loan amount and collateral value.
What this tool does
Calculates loan-to-value (LTV) as your borrowed amount divided by your collateral's current value.
Assumptions
Results use only the values you enter. They are estimates for education and planning, not investment advice or live market data.
How it's calculated
- LTV (%) = loan amount ÷ collateral value × 100
Worked example
- Loan: $4,000
- Collateral value: $10,000
Result: LTV 40%
Computed with this calculator's own formula.
How to read the result
LTV shows how much you've borrowed relative to your collateral. Lenders set a maximum LTV and a higher liquidation threshold; because crypto collateral can fall in value quickly, the gap between your current LTV and the liquidation threshold is your safety margin.
Limitations
- It uses the collateral value you enter; a lender values collateral at its own oracle or mark price.
- Accruing interest increases the loan over time, which raises LTV even if prices don't move.
- Thresholds differ by lender and asset — check the specific platform's parameters.
