Staking APY Calculator
Estimate compounded growth from a principal, APY, duration, and compounding assumption.
Project a mathematical APY estimate; it does not represent any specific protocol or guaranteed staking rate.
The annual rate you enter is treated as a nominal rate and compounded at the frequency you select — not as an already-annualized APY figure. If your staking platform quotes an APY, selecting "Annual" compounding here reproduces it exactly; selecting "Monthly" compounds it further and will project a higher ending balance than that quoted APY. Results use only the values you enter. They are estimates for education and planning, not investment advice or live market data.
How it's calculated
- Ending balance = principal × (1 + APY ÷ 100 ÷ n)^(n × years)
- n = 1 for annual compounding, 12 for monthly
- Rewards earned = ending balance − principal
Worked example
- Principal: $1,000
- Rate: 5% per year
- Duration: 3 years
- Compounding: monthly (n = 12)
Result: Ending balance $1,161.47; rewards $161.47
Computed with this calculator's own formula.
How to read the result
This projects what a steady staking rate would compound to over time, measured in the same units you entered. If you enter a dollar amount, the result assumes the staked asset's price doesn't change — in practice, price moves usually matter far more than the staking rate itself.
Limitations
- Real staking rates change over time; this assumes a constant rate.
- It doesn't deduct validator commission, lock-up or unbonding periods, or slashing risk — see the validator staking rewards, unbonding opportunity cost and PoS slashing loss calculators for those.
- The rate is applied mathematically as entered; whether a quoted figure is APR or APY matters (use the APY/APR converter if unsure).
