DAO
A decentralized autonomous organization coordinated through code and member voting.
A DAO, or decentralized autonomous organization, is a group coordinated primarily through smart contracts and member voting, rather than through a traditional company hierarchy.
Members typically use governance tokens to propose and vote on decisions, such as how a shared treasury is spent or how a protocol's rules should change, with outcomes often executed automatically by code.
Examples
- A DAO might vote on how to allocate funds from a shared treasury.
- Governance token holders in a DAO can typically propose and vote on protocol changes.
