Vesting
A schedule that gradually releases tokens over time instead of all at once.
Vesting is a schedule that releases tokens to a holder gradually over time, rather than granting full access all at once, often used for tokens allocated to a project's team, investors, or advisors.
Vesting schedules are sometimes cited as a factor that can affect available circulating supply and potential sell pressure as previously locked tokens become available.
Examples
- A team's tokens might vest gradually over several years rather than unlocking immediately at launch.
- Checking a project's vesting schedule can show when large amounts of previously locked supply may become available.
