Floor Sweep
Buying up a large number of an NFT collection's lowest-priced listings at once, often causing the floor price to rise sharply.
A floor sweep means buying up a large number of an NFT collection's lowest-priced active listings at once — "sweeping the floor" — which generally causes the collection's floor price (see Kaavon's "Floor Price" glossary definition) to rise sharply as the cheapest available listings are removed from the market.
A floor sweep can reflect genuine demand from a buyer who believes the collection is undervalued, but can also be used as a deliberate tactic to visibly push up a collection's floor price, which is worth keeping in mind before treating a sudden floor-price jump as purely organic demand.
Examples
- A floor sweep can cause a collection's floor price to jump sharply within minutes, as the cheapest available listings are bought up all at once.
- A sudden floor-price jump following a floor sweep isn't necessarily organic demand — it can also be a deliberate tactic to visibly push the floor price up.
